This temple is the virtual abode of providence for every living being irrespective of religion, caste or creed. This Holy Shrine is open to one and all suffering from mental and physical ailments, who have not got remedies or care from other sources.
The different states of ‘Nature’ have great influence on human mind. This affects the individual attitude and generates emotion-which creates happiness and sorrow in Human beings. Natyam (Dance, Music and Drama) has been used for the treatment of various mental and physical ailments from time immemorial. In the Shivaite way of worship and pooja, thantric rituals with the accompaniment of Natya has always been special.
At Kannampully Temple the festivals are used to change the attitude of devotees and transform them to the right state of mind. The knowledge of Nature and Universe is the basic of all poojas and festivals of Kannampully. Through the knowledge of Nature, We get the feelings of Universe and finally will experience Ecstasy in its true self. Kannampully Nataraja Natanolsavam which aims to transform people from their sorrows to a happy and blessed life with Natya Vedam.

Poothalam

On first Sunday of Malayalam month makaram (January) every year, women and transgender are allowed to offer Nedyapooja and Arathi to Thampuran. They can enter into the Sanctum-Sanctorum with a Talam of flowers, rice and coconut to do the Pooja directly to the God calling an “Thampuran”. Baris of this unique and unparalled ritual is connected to a real story.
Before the construction of present sreekovil there was a Manipedom, where the Lord remains as Omkaramoorthy. An old lady from a socially backward community came regularly and offers flower and lamp to him. God accepted the whole hearted and devotional prayer of the lady. She was called on “Devamma”. In memory and gratitude of her devotion and bhakti on the day of Rajarajeswara bhava poornima pooja. Woman and trans genders are allowed to perform pooja at sreekovil, irrespective of their cast, creed.
To get good and happy married family life is the prime aim of this distinctive pooja. No men are allowed to enter the temple on this pooja time at that day. This exclusive pooja and darshanam is the prerogative of women only.

Kamolsavam

The longing Desire of Universe towards the seducive beautiful state of mother Nature is the essence of Kama Bhava. Kamolsavam is the manifestation and festivity of this inexplicable state of Mind through Arts. The festival of Kameswara- the incarnation of LORD SIVA as the controller of all worldly desires- is going on at Kannampully during a period of Elevan days from the first day of malayalam month, Medom (Mesha) in April. This unique performance of Dance & Music is to be presented infront of the presiding deity at sreelakom (Garbhagudi). Women, who have devotion and knowledge to create and translate the Kama Bhava through dance and music are invited to be part of this Natya Pooja. Women devotees who are musicians and dancers and are between the age group of 17 and 60 years are eligible to be part of this pooja.

Nature exudes Calm and soothing beauty always. During the month of karkidakam (Ashadom), we experience this fierce mood of mother Nature. At Kannampully KirathoIsavam this secret Drama of Nature’s destructive and fear evoking bhava rasas are translating and manifesting on 11 days during karkida Amavasi.Revealing the mysterious horrifying character of nature through drama as Kathakali and Koodiyattam is Kiratholsavam.
